Lifting as we Climb

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Mu Nu Chapter

The Brothers of the Mu Nu Chapter participated in the Second District’s, Corridor 1 Memorial Service observance. The Chapters of Corridor 1 came together at the grave site of our founder Dr. Ernest Evert Just at Lincoln Cemetery in Suitland, MD. This nationally mandated program commemorates brothers that have entered Omega chapter in the preceding year and pays special tribute to our most honorable founders.

In attendance at this most auspicious occasion were two past District Representative’s and our current 37th 2nd District Representative present.  Our 34th 2nd District Representative Brother Milton Harrison ’75 Nu Psi; our 36th 2nd District Representative Brother J. Kendall Smalls ’90 Chi Kappa and the current and 37th 2nd District Representative Brother Kelvin Ampofo ’98 Omicron Epsilon.

The brother’s assembled on a chilly Sunday afternoon March 13, 2022. Inclement weather the day before prevented us from showing our respects on the actual observed day.  Despite the blistery cold Maryland wind over 50 brothers were present. Following a procession up to the gravesite of Dr. Just we were lead through the observance by the 2nd District Chaplain, Bro. Rev. Dr. Ronald Williams. Immediately following the formal serve we transitioned up to Founder Coleman’s gravesite and said a prayer, that ended this year’s observance.

The brothers of the Mu Nu Chapter recognize the importance of those who have come before us. Mighty Mu Nu demonstrated this by showing up in great numbers and filling multiple stations during this joint observance. 17 of the 50 plus Brothers present for this commemoration we from the Mighty Mu Nu chapter. It’s also worth noting that Mu Nu has long and illustrious history of producing District leadership. Both the 34th and 37th District representatives are members of Mu Nu Chapter.

The work of the brothers that have entered Omega chapter will never be forgotten. We recognize that we stand on the shoulders of some of the best men this world has offered, and we give credence to their accomplishments. And only hope to continue the spirit of Omega as they.
