On Friday, March 11, 2022, the Brothers of Mu Nu Chapter hosted their annual fundraising Mardi Gras Ball which established a new Chapter fundraising record established in 2019. This year’s event was chaired by Bro Alejandro Gonzalez (2018-Mu Nu) an alumnus of Howard University and a managing partner in an accounting firm in the Washington DC area. The Mu Nu Mardi Gras has been a staple in Montgomery County since the first Mardi Gras Ball held on March 9, 1971. at St. Jude Catholic Church. This year’s fundraising event was very well attended by friends, family members, fraternity brothers, and dignitaries. Proceeds from this annual event are used to fund scholarships for Montgomery County high school students attending college and to support social action initiatives. Notable attendants at this year included numerous fraternal and business and political leaders such as former Prince Georges County Executive Bro Rushern Baker (81-Alpha) who is running for Governor of Maryland and the 37th 2nd District Representative Kelvin K. Ampofo and his wife. The event featured entertainment from D.J. Trini a nationally disc jockey and the band Suttle.
